Bonspiels

Desert Rocks Bonspiel

The 2012 Desert Rocks Bonspiel is planned for the weekend of September 7-9, 2012 at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, Washington. You can find the 2012 Registration Form here. We are planning for 20 teams this year. Lots of curling - 3 games guaranteed. Great bonspiel discounts on rooms at nearby hotels. Fruit harvests in full swing. Beer and wine bar in the hospitality room, full bar upstairs, catered dinner and silent auction on Saturday, the Wenatchee Valley and the east-side Cascade mountains in late summer... doesn't get any better than that! Send email to Mike McRae or call him at 509-664-0651 for questions about the event.

The first annual 2011 Desert Rocks Bonspiel, was held in September on the ice at Town Toyota Center. Sixteen teams from the US and Canada participated with Team Iwanick earning the championship.

New Novel Uses Curling As A Backdrop

Andy Brokaw, Desert Rocks player on Team "Here For The Beer" recently from Ellensburg, WA, now in Maryland, has published a "young adult, romance on the ice" novel, Pride, Prejudice and Curling Rocks. For the 2010 auction, she donated a beautiful necklace centered around a commemorative Canadian coin celebrating curling at the recent Olympics. You can order her book from Amazon.  If you are interested in her curling jewelry send email and we will connect you with Andrea.

Team Wenatchee At The Granite Club "Interclub Bonspiel"

This spiel is the Portland, Oregon based Evergreen Curling Club's event, but is hosted in Seattle at the Granite Curling Club rink. The Wenatchee Valley was well represented at this late November event  in Seattle by Greg Sexton, Roger Carlson, Josh Hartmann and Don Horn (Greg's son, now living in Tacoma, WA).  They won 2 of their 4 games and came real close on a third.  Greg related,"This bonspiel is always a great time - win or lose."  Good curling, guys!
